Late Alpha, Charlie, Foxtrot, Sierra: Days 6 & 7 – Nanny Cay & Lee Bay

Today we woke up at 7:30. The rescue divers woke up a bit earlier to go get their Emergency First Responder Certification. We made breakfast, which consisted of avocado toast and eggs. We cleaned our boat, Mile Hi, while open water diving students went to an adventurous dive.
Our students started our pre-departure checks and set sail for Nanny Cay. We arrived at Nanny Cay after a relaxing sail on the calm waters of the Caribbean. Upon arrival, we did a deep clean of the boat. After, our students had time to explore the shops at Nanny Cay. Our students were able to chat briefly with their families and tell them all the tales of our adventures and new friendships. At 5:30 we started preparing for dinner, then had the opportunity for our first shore showers. When we finished dinner, we cleaned up and settled into bed under the stars for a nice evening of rest.

Nanny Cay provided a calm night of sleep. We awoke at 7:30 and enjoyed a breakfast buffet of fruit, bagels and cream cheese, cereals and yogurt. After breakfast clean, students indulged in some more shop time to stock up on their favorite snacks and souvenirs.
Heading back to boats around 9:45, we completed pre-departure checks, topped off on water, and skippers discussed a de-docking plan. Exiting the harbor, we prepared to raise sails for the upwind passage to Lee Bay on Great Camino. Winds were quite light, but it made for an easy anchoring lesson.
At Lee Bay, Sierra and Foxtrot students participated in a Fish ID lesson and set out on a snorkel to collect data, while other programs also went on a snorkel, sans data collection.
The afternoon closed out with a soda float social, hosted by staff boat! Students swam over and hung out on the various floats, lily pads and fenders, and caught sodas to enjoy in the water.
Following a dinner of spaghetti bolognese, students cleaned up and got ready for a night swim to explore bioluminescence before a freshwater rinse and bed time.
