Meet Our 2018 Alpha 4 & Charlie 3 Adventure Leadership Team

By wpdev August 7, 2018

Eliot Faust
Program Director

Eliot is currently getting his Masters in International Studies from Johns Hopkins SAIS and is coming back after spending the year studying in China. Starting in 2007, Eliot spent five years enrolled as a student at Sail Caribbean. He enjoyed the friends he made who kept returning each summer. Sail Caribbean really attracted Eliot due to his interest in marine biology from a young age. After participating in a bubble maker program on St. Thomas, he knew he wanted to continue exploring the underwater world. Following his time as an SC student, Eliot then completed the Sail Caribbean Dive Master Internship. Always ready with a funny one-liner, Eliot loves diving at the Fearless and the Indians or sailing to his favorite location of Little Harbor on Peter Island. He will never forget hanging out at the Baths with his core crew of friends who always returned for a summer with Sail Caribbean.

Curtis Crooke
Program Director

Curtis graduated from Georgetown University in 2017 and began work as a Legislative Correspondent for the Congresswoman to the US Virgin Islands.  But nothing can keep him away from Sail Caribbean.  He is returning for his fourth year as a staff member after sailing for four years as a student and intern, attaining his Divemaster along the way. In addition to diving and sailing, Curtis enjoys traveling (he has been to all fifty state capitals!), watching sports, and hanging out outdoors in warm weather with flip flops and a pair of Chubbies.

Adam Grant
Fleet Captain

Adam is an outdoor education guide, having worked in the outdoor industry all over the world and for the last 5 years in Australia and Ireland. He has worked for various summer camps and has instructed kayaking, sailing, windsurfing and rock climbing. Adam grew up in Ireland and has a diploma in outdoor education in which he learned various skills required to teach using the medium of the outdoors, with 5 years of yacht sailing with a day skipper license. For the past year Adam has been working in Australia providing outdoor education for schools across the country.

Trace Olson
Provisions Manager

Having grown up in Southern California, Trace foolishly decided that she wanted to see what snow was like, so she headed to Colgate University in New York where she earned her Geography and Art History undergraduate degrees while leading backpacking, canoeing, sea kayaking, and bouldering adventures for Colgate’s Outdoor Education program. To skip one of Colgate’s harsh winters, Trace studied abroad in Samoa and Fiji, where she drank at least one coconut a day and made a ton of new friends on volleyball courts. This fall, Trace is excited to start her master’s studies at University College Dublin, but not before recharging her sunshine bank this summer with Sail Caribbean!

Adrian Debrah
Captain of Fidji

Adrian attends the University of Iowa and soon Embry Riddle to study Aeronautical Science. He started sailing at the age of 14 with a Hobie Cat Wave in a small lake behind his house and has been in love ever since the first time he felt the wind catch his sails. He has always had a fascination for the oceans and its awesome inhabitants (especially Spotted Eagle Rays), but he was not satisfied having to be so far away the sea. Enrolled with Sail Caribbean for his first program in 2016, he enjoyed it so much he came back for a second year, and is now beginning his journey as a member of our staff.

Sarah Enticott
Captain of Galillee

Meet Sarah soon!

Zoe Leech
Mate of Fidji/Dive Instructor

Zoe has been living her passions all around the world for the past 7 years! As a SCUBA Dive Instructor / Snowboard Instructor she gets the best of both worlds.  Sharks are her spirit animal.

Tim Caruso
Mate of Galillee

Originally from New York, Tim is currently pursuing a BA in Film and Screen Media in Cork, Ireland. A diver from age 13, Tim has learned to sail and dive with Sail Caribbean, earning his Rescue Diver and Divemaster certifications over three years. Sail Caribbean opened up a world of exploration to Tim, encouraging him to study abroad in Ireland. After graduation from high school in 2016, a new adventure awaited across the ocean with new friends and opportunity to explore. Tim’s first year in Ireland brought him around the country, travelling with friends and working on films along the way. Tim’s first year film was showcased at the Fastnet Film Festival in Schull, Ireland, and after travelling from Maine to Venice and finishing his second year of college, Tim is excited to return to Sail Caribbean for a familiar and adventurous summer.

Luka Walshe
Videographer

Luka is joining us for his second year at Sail Caribbean, having completed a three year Higher National Diploma in Outdoor Adventure Management, in 2017 where he learned to teach sailing, windsurfing and whitewater kayaking from some of Ireland’s most experienced outdoor leaders. Luka has a wealth of experience teaching and instructing in many outdoor sports, including leading wilderness canoe trips in Canada, raft guiding and kayaking on Irish rivers and seas, sailing and windsurfing in Corsica and up and down Ireland’s west coast. Luka is a big believer in self-development and experiential learning, and has a passion for teaching and sharing outdoor sports with others.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
