Today’s weather was cloudy with light wind and some drizzling and cumulonimbus clouds. Thomas made bacon, and we had cereal with apples for breakfast. We spent two nights at Long Bay. The first night we were the only boat in the bay but on the second night, all of the Mega Fleet joined us! The sailors had an extra day in the classroom at the college reviewing course material and practicing sailing drills going between the mooring balls in Paraquita Bay. The Dive Master students practiced giving briefings and skill circuits in Long Bay.

After the mooring ball practices, we motored (because there was no wind) to Nanny Cay and had an amazing docking by Thomas and our ASA instructor. After a dip in the pool, shore time, and reprovisioning, we had an amazing dinner at the Peg Legs restaurant! Some of us got the Peg Leg’s Famous Burger which is a medium rare burger with all the “fixins”: grilled pineapple, fried onion, and bacon. My favorite part of these past few days was swimming at Long Bay and the plotting, charting, and navigating part of our ASA course. The crew of Polygala is especially excited to absolutely crush the other boats at the Sail Caribbean Olympics where we will dress as pirates!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
