It’s the official first day of diving!! Campers woke up early at 6:45 to eat a delicious breakfast buffet of bagels, cereal, and yogurt to have energy for the day. They gathered their fins, snorkel, and goggles to go explore the unknown!

Open water, advanced, fun diving, and DSDs began the day with an orientation meeting on the dive boat before starting their programs with smiles on their faces. Open water divers stayed at Cooper to start their certifications with their first confined dives. However, the fun divers and advanced open-water divers got on our dive boat, Endeavour, to do their first open-water dive of the trip! The rest of the crew spent the afternoon having swimmy fun time, snorkeling by Salt Island, and a fish ID lesson!

After ocean adventuring, everyone on the fleet had the chance to go ashore for ice cream!!! Campers treated themselves with scrumptious gelato while swimming at the beach. In between all the swimmy fun time, campers were excited to go watersporting. Their lungs were sore from having a screaming fun time as they inter-tubbed and waterboarded all around Cooper.

ASA campers learned how to sail the colorful Hobie cats, which was so much fun to try because they are smaller boats. After a long day in the sun, the crew went back to boats for showers and a classic American dinner of hot dogs and chicken nuggets. Yummmm!! After a day of exploring, trying different things, and making new friends, all campers were ready to hit the hay. Smiles on their faces campers went to bed excited for more adventures to come!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
