Today marked day 14 of our Mega 2s where we came to Anegada! We started our day at Bitter End Yacht Club in the North Sound. After a classic breakfast buffet, we gathered our gear and prepared for our journey to Anegada. The waters were a mesmerizing shade of blue, and we spotted dolphins playing in the wake of our boat. On the way, we learned about the unique coral reefs surrounding the island, which are the third-largest barrier reef system in the world!

By midday, we were moored and prepared to go to land for the truck tours of the island and a beach day. At Big Bamboo, some of us ate lunch and went for a swim at the beach. Our marine science staff led a lesson on how humans impact the environment and how we can make small changes to be more sustainable stewards of the earth!

After the lesson, we completed a beach clean at Anegada’s shark nursery and went to the flamingo pools – looking very pink this time. After our long day of travels and time ashore, we returned home to our boats for dinner and to prepare for Challenge Day. The Skipper, Mate, and Navigators from each boat reported to staff boat for their briefing of the next day’s schedule and route. We are looking forward to seeing everyone work together to excel on Challenge Day tomorrow!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
