Yesterday was filled with so much fun and many exciting arrivals! So many smiles could be seen as staff welcomed students from far and wide to our home base at Hodges Creek Marina! Everyone was so excited to say hi to our new arrivals as they got their boat assignments and started making themselves at home!

Our boats for MEGA 1s are Mile Hi, FLX, Dreamer, Tonga, and Apres Sail!!

After moving into their new homes for the next three weeks, we had an amazing hot meal of chicken, rice and beans, veggies, and coleslaw before heading back to our boats for a quiet night on board with some fun get-to-know-you games and team building fun!

Today we woke up to an amazing new day and made a breakfast buffet to get us started. After a quick clean, we headed to the dive shop for last-minute supplies for our certification courses and New Sail Caribbean 2024 Crew T-Shirts! We also learned more about our ASA, American Sailing Association, course offerings. Super fun!

Following all the cool information, we sat down as a program for our staple “Mike Talk” about camp life and ways to thrive when living on board! The weather was quite nice because it was a little bit overcast which helped keep the heat away. The liquid sunshine was welcomed when de-docking the fleet and cooled everything off! After learning about everything on the boat and how it works, pre-departure checks began for all boats. Once they were complete we were ready to set sail to our first location: Cooper Island!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
