Today was a wonderful day for Mega Fleet—we went to Dead Man’s Bay! Such a beautiful anchorage! After waking up at Nanny Cay, we had an early start at 6:45 and began our pre-departure checks. Next, we sailed upwind to the east to Dead Man’s Bay, remaining close hauled at a 45-degree angle to the wind thanks to our skilled skipper Sylvie, sailing in beautiful conditions with about 23 knots of consistent wind, making for a smooth and rapid sail. We tacked around 4 times to create our zig-zag course into the wind until we came to Dead Man’s Bay, dropped our sails, and dropped our anchor next to a gorgeous beach full of palm trees!

We then had a great time swimming and snorkeling and doing dives off our boat, we even saw a turtle and two starfish, one directly under our boat! Our campers have been smashing out their diving qualifications, so they had a well-earned chilled afternoon after an exhilarating morning sail. We finished off a cake we baked last night for sustenance on the sail.

Next, we worked on our chili cook-off! Our theme was Shark Tank, all our campers dressed up in shirts and paper ties and we impressed the judges with a homecooked chili by Kackie and Myles, and presented them with our business proposition!

After that, we finished our chili and had a chilled evening after watching a killer sunset here at our anchorage, ready for another jam-packed day of sailing, diving, and having fun tomorrow!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
