Goooood Morning Sail Caribbean. We woke up this morning to a beautiful sunrise over White Bay Guana and campers fueled up with a hearty breakfast of French toast. After breakfast, boats began their pre departure checks and skippers assumed positions at the helm ready to sail to Cooper Island. Students worked together to raise the main sail and unfurl the jib and then enjoyed a lovely beam reach towards Cooper where they worked together to pick up their first mooring ball. After a lesson underway the skipper assigned the jobs of threader, hooker, chopper, and spotter and all the boats successfully picked up balls and were ready to start the afternoon at Cooper.

Campers made Pasta Salad to get ready for a big afternoon of watersports, colgating, and diving!

Our advanced open water, open water, DSD, and fun divers headed to shore for an introductory to Sail Caribbean Diving and began the process of earning their certifications. Some of our ASA students went on Colgates where they were able to learn sailing maneuvers on a smaller boat. Campers also got to go tubing and some more will be in store tomorrow!

After a full afternoon on the water students returned to their boats for a shower party and got ready for a meal of BBQ chicken and vegetables. After a tasty dinner campers were treated to a gorgeous sunset with cotton candy skies. Everyone is adjusting to life at sea quickly and we can’t wait to see all the memories and achievements that the next 10 days hold!!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
