It was an exciting sleep with lots of rain that brought in the cool air. We woke up and had pancakes for breakfast while our open water and advanced open water divers geared up for their underwater adventures. Even more exciting, the open water divers finished their confined dives today and will head out to the open ocean in the afternoon!

Relaxedly waking up at Cooper Island, we made a quick breakfast before getting our pre-departure checks completed. The pre-departure checks consist of checking the engines, making sure the hatches are closed, and taking towels off of the lines on the sides of the boat. After dropping our mooring ball, we learned how to safely sail downwind before raising sails and applying what we learned.

A group of enthusiastic sailors took the Colgate, our small keel boat, all the way to the Bight – what an adventure. A few short  hours later, we arrived at The Bight on Norman Island. After a tasty lunch, we cooled down in the passing rain squall, and, once that passed, headed ashore for a hike to the top of a big hill that overlooks the open ocean on one side, and our fleet on the other.

Playing some fun games on the helipad at the top of the hill, we relaxed and got to know the whole fleet! Getting back to boats to shower, swim, and relax, we ate dinner and cake before quickly falling asleep after a fun and tiring day!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
