Day 5 was another busy one for the fleet as we went from Cooper Island to Great Harbor, then to our final destination at Soper’s Hole, West End. The day was packed with activities and excitement for everyone involved!

The Open Water and Discover Scuba students embarked on their first dive on a stunning reef, where they were treated to the sight of vibrant marine life. They marveled at the lobsters hiding among the crevices, admired the colorful reef fish darting around, and observed the bizarre and beautiful shapes of various corals. This first underwater adventure was an unforgettable experience, filled with the wonders of the ocean!

Meanwhile, the sailing students began their practical exam on the Colgate 26 sailboats. They skillfully jibed their way to Great Harbor, successfully completing the first portion of their exam. Their precise maneuvers and teamwork were commendable as they navigated their boats to join the rest of the fleet. The practical exam was a significant milestone in their sailing journey, demonstrating their growing proficiency and confidence on the water!

From Great Harbor, the entire fleet sailed down to the picturesque Soper’s. The journey was smooth and enjoyable, with everyone appreciating the stunning scenery. Upon arrival, the student skippers, line throwers, and roaming fenders showcased their skills by executing a flawless docking.

After docking, the students promptly tackled a boat clean, ensuring that everything was shipshape before heading ashore. Once the tasks were completed, they eagerly explored the charming shops at Soper’s. They indulged in delicious pizza and refreshing tropical drinks!

As the day came to a close, everyone gathered for a delightful pasta bolognese dinner. The meal was hearty and satisfying, providing the perfect end to an active day. After dinner, the entire fleet spent some quality time together on the dock, sharing stories and laughter. The camaraderie and sense of community were palpable as everyone reflected on the day’s adventures.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
