Today was one for the books aboard our Sail Caribbean voyage! We kicked off bright and early at the Bitter End Yacht Club, gearing up for an exhilarating sail to Anegada. Our crew was in top form with Caroline at the helm and Lizzy navigating our course. The wind was perfect, propelling us to an exciting 9 knots!
Mid-sail, we enjoyed delicious bagel sandwiches. By 1 PM, we smoothly picked up a ball in Anegada’s mooring field, ready to dive into the day’s activities!
First up, a bit of eco-warrior action! We hopped into trucks and headed to Big Bamboo for a spirited beach clean-up competition.
Post-clean-up, it was downtime in paradise. Some shopped for island trinkets, others lounged at the local eatery soaking in the sun, and of course, there was strawberry ice cream – because what’s a beach day without ice cream?!
On our return to the boats, the excitement continued. We cruised by a baby shark nursery, catching a glimpse of these incredible creatures in their natural habitat. And that wasn’t all – a surprise encounter with wild flamingos added an unexpected splash of pink to our day.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, our evening took a savory turn with the legendary Chili Cook-Off. A Sail Caribbean tradition, each boat showcased their unique take on chili, complete with themed presentations. At 7:30 sharp, the staff boat arrived to crown the culinary champions.
Today was more than just a sail – it was a symphony of adventure, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings on our Caribbean journey!
