Follow Our Journey! Alpha 4, Charlie, Foxtrot, & Sierra 3 – Day 4
Written by Anna W., Mate on Betty’s Dream
Dear Sail Caribbean Families and Friends,
Today mates Anna and Beck woke the crew of Betty’s Dream up bright and early at 6:45 am. We were all eager for another day of fun! We have been enjoying each other’s company and have already made loads of silly, salty memories together.
Our Captain Sadie along with the Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Fun, and Discover Scuba Divers met the Sail Caribbean dive boat at 8:15 am. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew embarked on a snorkeling adventure!! At 9:30 am, Katie Rush, our skipper of the day, sailed us from The Bight (a mooring field on Norman Island), to the Indians which is a snorkel site regarded as one of the best shallow water dives in the BVI! Before jumping into the water our Marine Biology Coordinator led a coral identification lesson and safety briefing. We were delighted to have the place to ourselves. After some exploration, we returned to The Bight around 11:30 am, just in time to welcome our divers back around noon. For lunch, Katie Rush and Kaiden made pita pockets, complete with rice, garbanzo beans, peppers, tomatoes, and feta! After lunch, we enjoyed watersports led by mate Anna and the fleet’s Provisions Manager, Suzanne. Some kids also opted to go small boat sailing with Captain Nicole for the afternoon.
At 4:30, campers from the entire fleet swam to the staff boat for a soda social- complete with music from our party box speaker 😉 and a wide array of soda and floaty choices!
We slowly meandered back to Betty’s dream around 6:00 pm for dinner prep. Holden and Scott cooked us a lovely pasta dinner which we ate while talking about our favorite parts of the day. Ayanna, Izzy, and Sienna laughed about their day spent underwater and on the dive boat while Frieda told us about her adventures tubing with her new friend Hannah!
We had a quick dinner and cleaned the boat, then called it a night around 10:00! We are stoked for the coming days with this fantastic group.
