On the 30th of July, we woke up at Jost Van Dyke and motored to Sandy Cay to get ready for the Sail Caribbean Olympics! We dressed up as pirates and went to the other boats to say hi and pull some pranks. We had so much fun, especially when singing our favorite song: Dixieland Delight.

After participating in the Olympics as a crew of pirates, we had a long five-hour sail to Lee Bay on Great Camanoe Island. It is a beautiful, protected bay with lots of caves. After anchoring and eating dinner, we went on a night snorkel and saw some pretty amazing bioluminescence.

On the 31st of July, we woke up and the divers got ready for their dive leads while the ASA students had a session debrief with Arter (Sailing Director) and Mike (Founder and Director). During the dives, a lot of lightning showed up so we had to hang out on Polygala for a bit. Afterward, we had another long sail to Bitter End on the North Sound of Virgin Gorda. There, we had food all together.

Finally, on the 1st of August, we woke up around 8 in the morning to get ready to sail some Hobie Cats! We all had an amazing time even with some capsizing, running aground, and Chase trying to jump from boat to boat. But that’s sailing! Later, we sailed to Trellis Bay where we got ready for a night dive on Norman Island. The sailors stayed on Polygala and went for a beautiful sunset sail to Great Harbor on Peter Island where the Mega Fleet was staying. We’re almost done with the program which is so sad but see you next time on the blog! Yo ho ho, a pirate’s life for me!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
