Today was another marvelous day on the water! On a mooring ball at Cooper Island, students awoke for breakfast to fuel up for a big day of fun! Divers had their introductory meeting and some even went on their first dive of the summer. Those who weren’t diving were busy snorkeling at a nearby reef and enjoying swimmy fun time! They were given and utilized the opportunity to mingle and chat with campers from other boats and extend their circle of friends.

When the divers returned, they began to prep their lunch of pasta salad. Following lunch and a quick tidy-up, they got the boat ready for departure and a sail to Virgin Gorda! The skipper took to position and assigned roles for an upwind sail to an anchorage called Savanna Bay. Students learned more about the specifics of tacking as well as anchoring before performing the maneuvers.

After a long afternoon of learning and sailing, students had a shower party to wrap up the days activities. A dinner of chicken enchiladas was prepared and served as the sun was setting and painting the sky. After a deep clean of the boat getting it sparkly clean, the boat hung together and debriefed the day during a boat meeting! Another night sleeping under the stars next to new friends!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
