Today, we had a bit of a lie in and woke up to make an array of different breakfast options for our crew. After a quick clean, the rescue divers headed off to Cooper Island to do some more of their course. The rest of the crew had ample amount of time to show off their moves while participating in rounds of various water-sports or choosing to take part in a snorkel. We had some students swivel on the wakeboard; they were that experienced and talented! The American Sailing Association students also got the chance to sail on our 26′ training keel-boats to learn and practice their skills.
We then all headed back to our home boats to start making a delicious and filling lunch of pizza bagels. We cleaned our spaces afterwards and the divers got ready to go explore underwater again, while the non-divers all headed to Manao for a nice sail together. We executed a circumnavigation of Salt Island, reaching 12 knots! It was a great opportunity to have multiple different people get behind the helm and practice their abilities, gaining more confidence and working with new team members.
Once we arrived at Salt Island, we anchored and were set and secured for the night. We quickly prepared a dinner of taco salad and enjoyed the meal together once the divers returned. Quickly after clean up, the divers headed off again for a night dive and the rest of us headed to shore for a sunset hike. We hiked up to the top of Salt Island to overlook the RMS Rhone and see a gorgeous sunset. After descending from the peak, the divers returned and we went back to our boat to power down from an exciting day. We had a quick boat meeting to recap our eventful day and then sought out our favorite sleeping spots.
