Day 5 of the Charlie and Bravo programs kicked off to an early start at Deadman’s Bay, Peter Island. The anchorage lies directly next to Dead Chest Island where Blackbeard once famously marooned at least a dozen members of his crew for fear of mutiny. After a hearty breakfast, the crews of Attila, Fermi, and Mersault up-anchored and made their way to the Pirate’s Bight on Norman Island.
Underway, the crews learned about points of sail and the so-called “rules of the road” for navigating traffic in the channel, otherwise known as rights of way. Once at the Bight, the fleet headed ashore for a hike that leads up to a helipad on the island where you can see both the northern and southern sides of the island. At the peak, we played team building games to get everyone’s blood pumping and smiles flying.
After the hike, we hiked back down and proceeded to all hop in the sea for a dip and to enjoy smoothies, conch fritters, and a volleyball game. Later, we enjoyed a Spaghetti Bolognese dinner, and then everyone went ashore for an evening social with the Foxtrot, Sierra, and Delta crews. After a long day of land and sea adventures, the crews headed back to boats for boat meetings before winding down to rest up for the following day.
