Bravo 1 & Charlie 1 Day 14: An Appreciation For Nature

The day started off with an 8:00a.m. wake up followed by a delicious breakfast buffet. After a quick breakfast clean, the students headed to the shops located all around Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor. After happily coming back to boats with lots of fun new goodies, the students prepared for their departure from docks.
The skipper of the day ran his/her prepared de-docking plan by the staff captain and mate and once the go-ahead was given, the kids were all off on their sail to Saba Rock located right next to the Bitter End Yacht Club. Before reaching Saba Rock, we took a detour to snorkel the Chimney’s, where we saw lots of rays, squid, lobsters, and parrot-fish.
By 2:00p.m., we finally arrived at Saba Rock and enjoyed a tasty lunch before shuttling ashore for a mangrove lesson, which entailed learning about what an important role they play in the Caribbean ecosystem. After the mangrove lesson, everyone checked off some community service by giving back to the plant and its root structure by participating in a very effective beach and mangrove clean up.
All crews reconvened back on their boats following our couple hours of love and labor for showers and dinner before our students were shuttled ashore for a social at Saba Rock where kids enjoyed some time off with each other exploring this new island after ordering some specialty frozen drinks and snacks at the restaurant. By 9:30p.m., everyone was back on boats and powered down for a good night’s rest, preparing for a busy day tomorrow!
